Closing out the Baltic countries we have now visited and immensely enjoyed Lithuania, although we have absolutely, without a doubt, walked our feet off.
Lots of similarities with beautiful old towns, rivers, enormous town squares, sculptures everywhere, gorgeous churches, massive towers, the worst cobbles we've seen anywhere (more stones than cobbles that are incredibly hard to walk on, although very cool) and peaceful green spaces.
The surprises were made up mostly of occupation stories, the Nazi's, Russian, France and the chaos fighting for liberation has caused this nation. As always this type of history is harrowing, but needs to be remembered.
A wonderful visit, now time to move on to Romania.
